Before forming Carbon Adaptive we designed and built custom AT equipment based on our motorsport contacts. This featured project for Jing was completed by making multipal sets of AT. The first one was done using traditional hand forming methods and the second utilised modern computer aided design and CNC machining.

The difference was astounding! Modern CAD/CAM processes are faster and cheaper, and the end product is far superior.

After making these AT products we integrated modern manufacturing into all projects.    

Ross’s Ford Falcon resto-mod has a powerful motor and running gear to match. The chromed bumpers were heavy and at the extremities of the mass. With a partial role cage, the bumpers were no longer required.  

Lightweight colour-matched composite bumpers not only reduce the overall mass of the car, but also improve handling and responsiveness through reduced rotational inertia.

Some of our favourite projects have started with the question ‘Would it be possible to…’ or ‘What if we designed and fabricated…’

As such we’ve worked with clients to understand their projects in 3D and utilise 3D scanning, 3D printing and modern manufacturing to bring these ideas to life.  

We’ve been working in and around aviation projects since our founder David completed university studies in 2007. Aircraft use a range of composite materials and manufacturing systems which makes them lightweight and strong. They require specialist care and attention to keep them airworthy.

We’ve worked on a range of projects including Jabiru modifications and windshield/paint repairs to CTLS fuel tank repairs and Cassutt Racer cowlings.

Composite materials and specialist knowledge keep them flying!

Composite materials are well suited to motorsport due to their conformability, lightweight properties, and strength. We’ve enjoyed working with clients and other companies to create race cars and improve them, not forgetting repairing them after incidents.

From creating aero rear spoilers, to fitting wide bodies, and making new front ends for E-Type Jaguars, we’ve been in and around motorsport since we can remember.      

For 6 years our founder David worked at Questacon, the National Science and Technology Centre in Canberra as the Senior Exhibition Designer. This work is collaborative and gave David heaps of experience designing and delivering interactive hands-on science and technology exhibits for public use.

Exhibition design and exhibit creation is a collaborative process and David really enjoyed working with a production team and external fabrication companies to help bring ideas to life and create public-facing hands-on experience.
